Manworks was started in 2003 by Neil Brommell. Read more about us here. Should I hire Manworks? Of course! We will treat your home as if it was our own. If you only want the cheapest contractor and don't care about workmanship or your home investment, then look and hire elsewhere. That doesn't mean we're more expensive than everyone else, it means we provide quality for your dollar and we always do the best job possible using the best products possible. Where is Manworks located? Manworks is a home based business operated out of the Glebe. Is Manworks insured? Yes, we are fully insured with a comprehensive contractors policy. Are you related to George "Beau" Brummell? Maybe. It's a well known fact that many surnames got changed accidentally when handwritten by clergy or officials into record books so perhaps Brummell and Brommell are all related. . Top PAINTING Do you use masking tape when you paint? If we're painting very close to something like a fireplace, kitchen cabinet or mirror, then we might use it a bit, but generally we just paint a straight line; it's the best way. Masking tape has a habit of coming loose and then you get paint all over the place, very messy. What brand of paint do you use? We will use any paint you like, but if you don't specify, we usually use Glidden Professional. It's a good quality latex that goes on well and withstands cleaning and abuse. Manworks can lift your old carpets and take them to the dump, but we don't put in new carpets. That's a real specialized trade which is better left to the experts. What other types of flooring do you do? Laminate, hardwood, vinyl, tile and anything else you might be considering. Do you do tile? Yes, we do lots of tile. Bathrooms, kitchens, front halls, basements, etc. Top ADDITIONS Can you build an addition on my house? Absolutely. Manworks is your full service contractor. We can build you an addition, renovate your house, upgrade your bathroom or build you a new garage. What do you need done? Top PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL Do you do electrical work? Yes, we can supply all your needs electrically but reserve the right to subcontract it out where necessary. Do you do plumbing work? Yes, we can supply all your plumbing needs but again reserve the right to subcontract it out where necessary. Top SHEDS AND FENCES What do you charge be linear foot for a new fence? It all depends what kind of wood you want, how high your fence is, what design you want and what your terrain is like. We need to see your yard to give you an accurate price. Top BATHROOMS How much of my bathroom should I renovate? That's completely up to you. If your tub or sink needs replacing and we're going to tear out all the tile, it's a good time to replace the floor and might as well replace that toilet while we're at it. Most people just do it all at once, but we can stop wherever you like, you're the boss. What size bathroom fan do I need? See our Articles page for important information about this. Victorian, Edwardian and early 20th Century homes are our specialty! From lathe and plaster to creaky hardwood, we not only know these old homes but we love them too. We work in the Glebe, Sandy Hill, Centretown and elsewhere every week, fixing homes just like yours. What about newer home? Modern homes built right up until today all have things that make them unique. We're familiar with them all. We always take care to keep your home true to its roots when doing repairs. We don't believe in tearing out all the old just because it's old. If you want to keep that old toilet or unusual baseboard, we'll work with you to make it so. We can't give an accurate price over the phone or without actually seeing a job because there are too many variables to consider. Let us set up an appointment to view your project, then we can give you an accurate and concrete price quote based on the actual work involved. Do you charge by the hour? We prefer to price large jobs with a fixed quote but for small jobs that will only take a few hours, sometimes it's best to charge an hourly rate. Top
